Why Peope always try to satisty others?

Hi,
I am thinking of this for many time and even talked with my frieds on this some times..
This is my question
"Why does people tries to satisty others always, instead of living for their inner soul?

I have realy affected due to this. But i dont know is it correct. Is this way a man need to live? Can't they live for thir inner soul. What makes a man to live in this? What will really happen when every one lives that satsfies thir inner soul.
