My Greatest Learning

These are last days of my father. I didn't thought of this tragic is going to happen. My father was talkative as he used to be. He was sharing young age experiences with me. When my father used to take rest, i used to read Gandhi's "My Experiments with Truth" book. I was inspired by the way Gandhi used to do service for his father and also for others. I think this stay is the hospital with my father is a one of the greatest opportunity that i have got to do service for my father. Being in the hospital, i wounder if the word Patience is derived from the world patient. One of the toughest task during my stay in the hospital is that of feeding my Father. He used to resist when ever i tried to feed him. So i need to be have lot of patience to feed him.

One thing that i forget during initial days is "being in others shoes". When i mean that during my stay in the hospital, when ever my father is used to resist to have food, i initially felt that it is my father's intention to resist to have food. But when i latter understood that there is a valid reason behind my father's resistance, i was able to find alternate ways for feeing my father. I have really closed all option during my initial day's and only thought that it is my father's intention to resist. But when i was able to understand the reason, i was able to find the alternate solution by discussing with the Doctor. So i have learn that "There are always a solution to a problem, and we need to be looking for alternatives when it does not work in one direction".

Also i have learn that, i need to be drive to make things to happen, when things are happening as expected. Being in the hospital, we need to constantly have a chat with the patient whom we take care to understand their problems. It is always better to note down all the problems the patient is reporting. Reason behind this approach is, the chief doctor used to come only twice a day to do consultation with the patient. If we have noted all the problem the patient has reported in a notebook, it will be really easy to report all these problems to the doctor. By bringing all the problems to doctor's notice, we will be able to have solutions for all the problems. We can also use this as a case history for our future reference/ future hospital admission.

I have lots to add to my learning and will be adding as when i remember it. To be Continued....
